A couple of my closest friends have been having a hard time lately. I know they're upset and I so wish I could help and actually be there for them in a way that doesn't involve just changing the topic and making them laugh. That is important, sure but it only puts off the hurt until I'm not there to comfort them; Or at least, that is the pattern I've noticed.
Friend 1: She had moved to a different country for college. Before moving, she was shy and kind of reserved but in college, she made more friends and was really getting into a social circle. She met a boy, they got engaged and they seemed so happy, I know she was. But I just learned that he cheated on her and broke it off. So she is back home now. She told me she was okay with it but I don't believe her. You don't get over love that quickly, especially when sex had been involved.
Friend 2: He had this grand plan to start a company with his friends. Since most plans like that don't usually make it too far, it made me so happy when he and his friends seemed really set on this, and they were doing well. But they lost a key element to their plans and now everything has fallen through. He seemed upset when we talked about it but the subject didn't stay long, though I feel he's still upset about losing that opportunity. So, pray maybe he and his friends could find a way around the problem or that they could at least find peace that they won't have all that stress.
Friend 3: He asks me to pray for him all the time, various small things like tests but those aren't what I worry about. Lately, problems with his family have been getting worse. His brother annoys him to no end, his mother uses him as a place to rant and let everything go, his dad tries to tell him not to get mad but then does exactly what he tells my friend not to do, and his parents fight a lot. He's just kind of having a rough time right now and I'm a little worried that he may be developing an anger problem from all this.
Friend 4: She has to make a huge college decision; Keep all her friends and family and go to school here or move out west for one boy who doesn't even know she loves him. She's never really had an easy life to start with and leaving everything she is familiar with isn't helping.
